Loving This Weather

 

 

While the rest of the country is suffering record breaking cold, snow and ice, we here in Rhode Island are sitting pretty.  Sure, it’s cold. It’s in the mid thirties, sometimes twenties, but cold is typical for January in the north east.  And yes, we have snow on the ground…..snow that fell last Thursday.  Why we even had snow fall today…..this morning. 

According to the weather people it was supposed to snow all day.  It was supposed to be a heavy snow fall.  The city had the salt trucks out early this morning before the snow began to fall, wasting salt.  And yet here it is, mid day; the sun has come out, the snow has stopped falling and that which fell has melted away.

Yet, this winter (and the past two winters) has been mild when compared to winters before.  The snow fall has been light and far between and the temps haven’t been as extreme.  I would tend to point the blame on this so called global warming, but our last three summers were quite nice.  A matter of fact, we only had to use the AC two weeks in August, and even then it wasn’t that hot.  We could have gone without it.  Summers prior, we always had the AC on come late June.  It wasn’t till sometime mid September (once late October) that we could shut off the AC and open the windows again.

I’m knocking on wood our winter stays it’s course and this coming summer will be as the last.
